A U.S. MODEL 1860 CIVIL WAR SPENCER CARBINE ALTERED AT THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY AFTER ITS USE & REISSUED IN THE INDIAN WARS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. SERIAL #57,253, ALL ORIGINAL & COMPLETE. EXCELLENT METAL & GOOD MARKINGS WITH THE PATENT DATES ON THE TOP FLAT BEING LIGHT FROM BEING REFURBISHED AT THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. THIS IS OFTEN SEEN ON THESE SPRINGFIELD SPENCER CARBINES. THERE IS AN UNUSUAL "US" STAMPED ON THE BARREL & RECEIVER. THE GUN HAS EXCELLENT BLUE ON THE BARREL WITH SLIGHT THINNING. THE RECEIVER, LOCK, HAMMER, & BUTT PLATE RETAIN MOST OF THEIR ORIGINAL CASE COLORS. FINE PLUS WOOD & EDGES WITH AN EXCELLENT U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARSENAL INSPECTOR'S CARTOUCHE ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE STOCK. THERE IS A "VP" STAMPED BEHIND THE INSPECTOR'S CARTOUCHE ON THE WOOD. THE GUN HAS AN EXCELLENT PLUS BRIGHT BORE & ACTION.
