SCARCE U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1847 CAVALRY MUSKETOON An Early & Scarce U.S. Springfield Model 1847 Cavalry Musketoon In Untouched Condition & Dated 1852 on the lock & barrel. All original & complete. Only around 6500 were made at Springfield. The metal on the gun is fine with the barrel having a nice chocolate brown color to it. There is some fine peppering around the bolster but the markings are visible & clear. The lock is also fine & has a nice patina on it. The wood on the gun is nice with very good edges & a U.S. Inspectors Cartouche under some initials on the wood. All of the brass on the gun is untouched with a nice dark mustard color. The bore in the gun is good & the action is nice. This Is A Very Fine Looking & Very Untouched Example Of A U.S. Model 1847 Springfield Cavalry Musketoon That Definitely Saw Service In The Civil War!
