His Hardy Hat has the #50 on it along with rifle insignia. The photo is clear even though it has some emulsion on the bottom & side. You can see all of his accoutrements very clearly. The photo is in a half leather case. Early U.S. Civil War Photos With This Much Content Are Very Difficult To Find. This Is A Great Example Of An Early Ambrotype!

The images of the sargent are slightly different & were probably taken one after the other. The gutta percha case is nice & has has an old repair in one of the hinge areas. It Is Very Difficult To Find Two Different Images Of The Same Soldier Especially In Ruby Ambrotype Form. These Are Fine Looking & Scarce Civil War Photos!
